What You Need to File
Determine your path: the March 2026 primary filing window has closed. If you want to run in 2026, you can still run as an independent candidate for the November 3, 2026 general election — contact the DuPage County Clerk at 630-407-5400 to confirm the filing window (estimated late June – late August 2026).
Pick up or download the candidate petition packet for your district from the DuPage County Clerk's Office.
Collect voter signatures on petition sheets within the allowed circulation window. Call the DuPage County Clerk to confirm the exact number of signatures required for your district.
File a Statement of Economic Interests with the DuPage County Clerk — you must bring the receipt when you submit your nomination papers. Failure to attach the receipt is a disqualifying defect.
Submit your completed nomination papers — including petition sheets, Statement of Candidacy (sworn and notarized), and SEI receipt — to the DuPage County Clerk's Office by the filing deadline.
Register a political committee with the Illinois State Board of Elections if you raise or spend more than $5,000.
