Village Commissioner or Mayor — Village of Downers Grove — Village of Downers Grove, Illinois (DuPage County)

Filing Fee: No filing fee Term: 4-year term — no term limits Seats: 4 seats on the 2027 ballot: Mayor + 3 Commissioner seats (all elected in 2023, terms expiring May 2027). All seats are at-large — no ward or district requirement. Election: April 6, 2027

✓ Who Can Run

Be at least 18 years old
Be a U.S. citizen and a registered voter in Downers Grove
Have lived within Downers Grove's village limits for at least 1 year before the election
Not owe any unpaid taxes or debts to the Village

📋 What You Need to File

Pick up a petition packet from the Village Clerk at 850 Curtiss St. (2nd floor) — packets typically become available in late July 2026.
Collect at least 95 voter signatures on petition sheets. All signers must be registered Downers Grove voters. You may start collecting approximately late July 2026 — not before the official circulation start date.
File a Statement of Economic Interests with the DuPage County Clerk (421 N. County Farm Rd., Wheaton | 630-407-5500) before or by the filing deadline. Bring the receipt when you submit your nomination papers — a missing receipt will disqualify you.
Submit your completed nomination papers — petition sheets, Statement of Candidacy (sworn and notarized), and SEI receipt — to the Village Clerk by approximately October 26, 2026 (exact date TBD). Office hours: Mon–Fri 7:30 AM–4:30 PM.
Register a political committee with the Illinois State Board of Elections if you raise or spend more than $5,000.
